Ahem, A Deviant Mind haiku:
The hero’s memory is gone,
the bad guys descend
like autumn rain,
We are fine with that.
I think it’s a wonderful story with beautiful art. Everyone can relate to the feeling of not knowing who you really are, especially when you’re young, even if it’s not caused by amnesia, like Tara. The characters are original and captivating, and you don’t want to put it down once you start reading. I’m especially fond of the fact that you can always tell who’s who–no same-face in this work.
“A Deviant Mind” Episode 19 is a very touching, insightful episode, a touching glimpse of a person trapped between fear and bigotry where not even royal bloodlines can save one. As Najimi struggles with her painful past, her self image and the fear of future rejection, she has to decide whether to fall backward or move forward: Years of exploitation and abuse have left her with scars she can’t remove and yet those around her want desperately to help her heal.
Even a royal princess can fall to the lowest depths when a culture rejects them for something they have absolutely no control over. The results can haunt one for a lifetime…or can she find healing and peace within?
Bonita: Um…Jerrie…this is a joke, right?
Jerrie (background): A joke? What do you mean, Bonita? You wanted to talk about A Deviant Mind!
Bonita: Um…yes…I do…but not in this rat trap motel room! (Sniff) Eww…It smells in here, Jerrie! Ohmigod…a friggin’ dead mouse behind the fridge…OH…crap!
I refuse to talk about A Deviant Mind in this dump!!!!! GET ME OUTTA HERE!
Jerrie (background): Look, girl…talk about the series already! We wasted a page…and you haven’t said anything yet!
….What really got me..was the scene (in A Deviant Mind #23) with Najimi and her father…hearing her father say those hurtful things…then right after that he tells her he loves her… wow… that was most powerful moment in the book for me.
Personally from what I’ve read so far I feel like your stories should have real universal appeal. Everybody feels lost and no one really knows who they are. I think we just delude ourselves from time to time in thinking otherwise.
My favorite cover ever. Just amazing to see this series come full circle 34 years later.
Thank you so much for A Deviant Mind! I’ve read the first two between running errands and cleaning house and I’m hooked. This is good sci-fi and I’m loving it.
Pam, I got issue 20….OMG! Great story! Najimi has really grown since she first come into the series …. omg … her and Asuka really steamed up the comic … but the interaction with Najimi and her sister is what got me the most…and the girl is only 14! With so much stress … incredible. First I thought she wanted the throne for herself … but I see she loves Najimi to death … the ending …. DAMN!!!! Like you said I screamed at the book!!!!!
PAM! PAM! GOT THE BOOK!!!! PAM you are so cruel!!!!!! Now Najimi and Tayge are missing too???????? PAM!!!! PAM!!!!!
(A Deviant Mind #19) is my favorite issue so far. Just fantastic writing. We feel Najimi’s pain with this story … awesome work, Pam. I am chomping at the bit for this to be available in the printed version.
It’s also important that you’re including Transgender people in your series, Pam. Just another thing about it to be proud of. (A Deviant Mind) is ground-breaking in that respect. There are comics with third and non gender characters but none so popular and well executed that I know of. Thank you for contributing to our visibility.
Amazing. Magnificent. This is simply the BEST CGI comic art I have ever seen.
Pam…I ordered my copy! Now…if only Najimi will get her own series … Pam … I know you hear me ….Pam ….issue 18 Pam… I need it … Pam …. when is it coming …. Pam …. I know you hear me …. you’re flipping me the double bird right now I bet … but it doesn’t matter to me …issue 18 Pam…. need to know when it’s coming ….Pam…….
Well you are the first ever person [to my knowledge] to present a Futanari as a heroine and not merely a naked, ravenously lustful, blown out of reality whore covered in various bodily juices.
